It wasn't but a few hours ago when I realized I was broke...yes broke. Luckily, I have many years to come before that becomes a real issue but for now, it's an issue that I DON'T want! What is the meaning of money? Where did it come from? How did it become such a large part of our society?
Money spands back thousands of years ago...most likely with the originial "barter & gift". If you have something of equal value, you can acquire something different of that SAME value...same being the key word here. Not long after, the Sumerians are credited with initiating the first economy based on commodity money. From then, we have been piling ourselves up in allegorical debt.
I thought about it for a second...what if money was never invented, and labor was for self-gratification and sincerity. And what if everything based on that labor, in terms of results, was not free (remember, there is no such thing as money) but good-will. The world could be such a better place. Where everything is done, given, and recieved as a sign of care and optimism. Just another flaw in today's society.
Today's was more of a personal conclusion but let me hear what you think. Do you agree with the monetary system? Why or why not? (As if we can change it...)
You've got a lot to learn. TSA is not there for our safety, it's there to add more people to the federal payroll while revoking our rights in the process, See Fourth Amendment.
ReplyDeleteYou have decision points by George Bush listed. Bush's profligate spending helped usher us into more debt and helped get Obama elected.
There is nothing wrong with commodity based money. Trading with gratitude only works in a very primitive society with extreme limits of what human's are capable of. In a First World advanced society, money represents the effort behind it, and if people are able to meet demands they get more so they can improve their lives, and the cycle goes round and round. See Francisco's speech in Atlas Shrugged:
"So you think that money is the root of all evil?" said Francisco d'Aconia. "Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?
"When you accept money in payment for your effort, you do so only on the conviction that you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others. It is not the moochers or the looters who give value to money. Not an ocean of tears nor all the guns in the world can transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow. Those pieces of paper, which should have been gold, are a token of honor – your claim upon the energy of the men who produce. Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money. Is this what you consider evil?
Ah, well, thank you for that, sir. I appreciate your comment. However, I believe you are looking too far past my intended level of comprehension. Also, what do you think happens when TSA removes themselves from our airports? I also appreciate the critiquing of my preferences…May I ask you something, sir?
