It’s been a while but I’m back. I recently attended the inauguration of our new governor, Governor Robert J. Bentley; the 53rd governor of the state of Alabama. What an event it was! It never occurred to me years ago when I first got interested as to why I’m interested in politics. After talking with my friends and family, I have come to the conclusion that the reason why [I am so passionate for the sanitation of our government] is because it is my God given duty on this Earth. I have figured out why I am here and what I am supposed to be doing.
I can see a lot of things. I can see just as much as anyone else but I look at them differently. Through the young eyes of mine own, I have seen corruption, scandal after scandal, special interest, displeasure, must I go on, in our government. Government today is far too much like a college. There are alienated groups, people have harsh feelings for one another, there is no cooperation outside of a comfort zone, and the leaders are pains…major pains. It bothers me to think that in a few short years, my generation will be the one to inherit all of this mess, and that worries me.
On the same note, it’s almost as if 2012 couldn’t come timelier. I’ll be 18, semi-legal, and so will the majority of my generations. Therefore, is it not a bit canny that there really might be a big ‘to-do’ on December 21, 2012? We can’t deny everything we do not wish to happen in life. We must embrace it and I have embraced that infamous day with so many rumors, legends, and yes, facts behind it. The Mayans, when they came up with that date, said it would be the end of time. Now, simple logic says that they obviously did not use the actual phrase “the world and earth will end…” It’s just, the end of time. A time that could be unwanted, a time that really is corrupted, a time stained by the malicious acts of those we put in office. A feel that on that morning in December, 2012, the sun, brighter than ever will peer up over the misty, winter tree tops; the birds who sing in the summer will sing their song, so valiantly in the cold winter; the purest of breezes will make their ways through the plains of the west, the skyscrapers of the east and the forests of the south; the animals will fear nothing; and best of all, the hell we now call our government will be rebooted!
The government will become a service, no longer a club. The hardworking middle class will then be able to rely on the government. The lives of the citizens of America will be new, fresh, and pleasing. So, now, when you hear that date, do not think of an apocalypse…associate that date with the renaissance of a new country. Expect great things, fore, my generation will.
